Bringing an Idea to Market
A first-time entrepreneur had an idea for an Internet startup—make storing, managing and sharing content more social—and came to Sequel with nothing more than a raw idea and the passion to see the vision come to life.
Working closely with our client from the ground up, Sequel provided legal, business and technical guidance to turn an idea into a commercial business. First, the entity needed a name. We counseled the client throughout the name development stage, weighing the pros and cons of different suggestions from both legal and business perspectives, performing trademark searches and clearances, and filing the trademark application for the service’s name. Sequel also handled the incorporation of the new entity, prepared an operating agreement and created a management structure to accommodate the new company’s first investor. All of this work was performed for a fixed-fee that fit into the client’s pre-investor budget.
The company’s website and companion mobile application required the help and guidance of a web-development firm. Sequel helped our client gain legal ownership over the code, design and other intellectual property created by third parties. We also created the terms of service and privacy policies for both the website and mobile application.
Sequel continues to work closely with this growing business as its products and services expand.
